History of The Chortle

The Chortles had their Genesis in the 1960's when little Mani Haha, a young teenager on the cusp of adolescence, started cutting pictures from newspapers and magazines, gluing them to cheap paper and giving them his own captions.

Here, from the Chortle Archives, are some of the classic Chortles. Mani called his work "Many HaHa's," a play upon Indian princess Minnehaha of Gitchigoomee fame and, coincidentally, his own name.

With a grant from the Mani and Mini Haha Foundation, we are proud to present these classic Chortles with the goal, as always, to meet all your Chortle needs.
